- Research
your chosen religion with the following required methods:
- Online
research: search carefully for
solid sources that will help you learn the following (use multiple
sources, at least 3-5):
i.
History
ii.
Founders and major figures
iii.
Key beliefs
iv.
Key practices
v.
Key elements of worship
vi.
Key artistic expressions
vii.
Current situation in the world
- Site
visit: find a local place of
worship or monastery, call ahead to check on appropriate way to visit,
visit with respect and appreciation, take pictures with permission and as
appropriate, take notes on things that interest you and things that you
feel are important to understanding the religion.
- Interview: contact a clergy or member of the
religion to request a personal interview or phone interview. No longer than 30 minutes. Explain the nature of your
interview. Prepare well before
hand with questions. Don’t record
the interview but take good notes.
- Product
of research must be neatly typed in either a prose or outline format with
a bibliography page. It can be in
script form as well for the presentation.
It does not need to be a paper.
- Presentation
of information is to be in the following format:
- Introduce
presenters.
- Introduce
topic with an interesting hook.
- Present
information in a well-planned format using speech techniques discussed in
class.
- Create
an excellent slide show, must be well designed with engaging pictures and
carefully constructed
- Be
prepared to hold an engaging question and answer afterward
- Each
group member must submit a 2 page reflection on what the experience meant
to them.
